Covid- 19 Safety Advisory

1. What is Corona Virus

  • The coronavirus is a large family of viruses that causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to acute respiratory syndromes, but the virus that has killed people in China is a novel strain (COVID – 19) and not seen before. Common symptoms of the novel coronavirus strain include respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, according to the WHO

2. INDIA is almost free of COVID-19 infection

  • There were only 3 cases of Novel Coronavirus in India so far amongst 1.3 billion people. All 3 were evacuated from China and brought to Kerala in South India. All 3 cases have now been tested negative and have been discharged from hospital

3. Travel Restrictions to India

  • Visas for residents of China for travel to India is not issued since January 2020; so no delegates/speakers from China will be attending ISUW 2020
  • Persons who have visited China since December 2019 are also denied visa to visit India by Indian Embassies and Missions overseas
  • Passengers arriving from 10 countries are being screened at airports in India and suspected cases are tested and taken to isolation wards. While those arriving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore being screened since 17 January 2020, arrivals from Nepal, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia are added to this list on 22 February 2020
  • Hence, infected persons entering the venue of ISUW 2020 is almost NIL

4. Precautions at ISUW 2020 Venue

  • Guest Rooms, Conference Venues and Exhibition at the Event Hotel (Lalit Hotel New Delhi) and the venues of ISUW will be sanitized
  • Frequently touched objects and surfaces will be sanitized at regular intervals
  • Alcohol based hand rubs (ABHR) will be placed at the entrance and exits of all conference rooms, Dining Room and in all the exhibition booths
  • Anti-septic hand washes will be available in all wash rooms
  • Masks and tissues will be freely distributed at the venue
  • Medical Aid Counter with qualified Health Care Worker (HCW) will be setup at the ISUW Venue equipped with basic medical kit
  • Those having suspected symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath etc) will be taken to an isolation room and examined by a qualified doctor; given surgical masks (N95) and if required taken to the hospital
  • All the items distributed at the event will be sanitized

5. Advice to Attendees

  • Stay at home if you are feeling sick
  • Cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue, then throw the used tissue in the trash bin
  • Avoid touching face, nose and eyes with your hands – when you must, please sanitize your hand with AHRB or wash your hands with soap for minimum 20 seconds before touching your face
  • Avoid handshakes – instead greet people with traditional Indian Namaste
